Why Does Jesus Matter?
Every person struggles to find meaning and purpose in life. Each of us wonders about our significance while here on earth. All of us have aspects of our lives that we know need to change but we feel powerless to change. We struggle with hurts, hang-ups and habits. Our deepest questions are: Who am I? Why am I here? What is life about? What will happen to me when I die?
Jesus matters because he came to answer our deepest questions. He came to save us from ourselves, to restore what is broken and to heal our greatest hurts. He came to give us purpose for living now and settle the question of where we’ll spend eternity.
Jesus Reveals the Truth about God
Jesus came to show us what God is like and remove all distortions of who He is. Jesus reveals that God created each of us with a purpose in mind. He loves you and wants to help you discover who He is and why He created you. He knows you are imperfect. He knows you fail. He knows you need help. He knows you can’t do it on your own—that’s why God sent Jesus.
You don’t have to measure up to some impossible religious standard to know God—you can’t; only Jesus can. You don’t have to be good enough or follow some super-spiritual checklist. Just know that God loves you, love Him back with all your life and trust Him to lead you on the rest of your journey with Him. You will discover that you were made for God and when you live for Him, you truly have found who you are, why you are here and know where you are headed!
What’s Next?
If you are ready to meet Jesus, pray this prayer: “Lord Jesus, I admit that I’ve fallen short of what you have in mind for me. I’ve sinned in these ways (name your sins) and need your forgiveness. I believe that you are the Son of God—you lived, died and rose again from the dead so I could be connected to God and live a new life. I confess that you are my Savior and surrender my life to you. I give you my past, present and future. Bring healing to my broken soul, teach me your Word, and fill me with the Holy Spirit so that I can live joyfully and powerfully for you.”
If you prayed to meet Jesus, please let us know! If you have questions, we want to help you take a next step. Stop by our campus this next Sunday, complete a Connection Card, inquire at the Welcome Center or contact us at [email protected].
